A giant virus found in perfect condition in frozen lands of Siberia, in northeastern Russia, is about to be 'resurrected' for scientific examination.

Scientists expressed their intention to 'revive' the so-called Mollivirus sibericum, 30,000 years old, to examine and discover whether it is harmful to animals or humans, reports' The Daily Mail '. This is the fourth discovered prehistoric virus since 2003.

Experts warn that climate change and melting ice could resurrect dangerous pathogens like. "The fact that viruses can be easily revived prehistoric permafrost should be of concern in a context of global warming," say the researchers.

The virus was discovered by the National Center for Scientific Research in the Russian region of Kolyma, measuring 0.6 microns and can be viewed by light microscopy.
